FULL-TIME PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR II – Posted 6/5/2020

The Buffalo Trace District Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Public Health Director II starting salary $58,500.

The Buffalo Trace District Health Department consists of two counties, Mason and Robertson. This position serves at the discretion of the Board of Health. The health department serves a combined population of 20,000 people. BTDHD employs a staff of 21 dedicated full-time and contract employees.

General Duties include: The responsibilities include, but not limited to; provide public health leadership for the district as well as leadership and management support for a wide range of public health programs and services including population health, chronic and communicable disease intervention, environmental health, immunizations for vaccine-preventable diseases, maternal and child health, nutrition, disaster preparedness & response and community engagement based programs. Performs a variety of tasks such as planning, financial management, organizing and measuring performance of staff. Assesses and analyzes the health status of each county. Incorporates the Core Public Health Functions and ten essential services of public health into the practice of the agency.  Must have a close working relationship with community partners, local officials, health care providers, and other state, regional, and local agencies. May serve as secretary to the Board of Health.

Requirements: Minimum education is a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public or Health Administration, Public or Community Health, Nursing, Social Science, Education or other related degree. Must have four (4) years of experience in Public Health or other health related occupations, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.
