Take a COVIDcation

The great state of Kentucky has a lot to offer when it comes to natural wonder. There are several places on both the Kentucky and Ohio side of the river families can travel to within an hours drive of Maysville. Taking a COVIDcation by getting out of town is a great way to hit the mental reset button during the pandemic. While outside it is totally plausible to do social distancing. Read about some of the great destinations that are basically in our own backyards.

1. BLUE LICKS BATTLEFIELD STATE PARK AND RESORT

History and a hike at the Blue Lick’s Battlefield. Be sure to visit on a Friday or Saturday to scope out the Blue Lick’s Farmer’s Market.

2. BROOKSVILLE COVERED BRIDGE

Kiddos can enjoy splashing around in the shallow creek then stop in for ice cream nearby.

3. CARTER CAVES

There is a country song for everything…except maybe spelunking.

4. CUMMINS NATURE PRESERVE

Cummins has easy to find self guided trails but the gravel road is a good go-to for walks in the park.

5. EAST FORK LAKE

Missing the view of sails on the horizon? Spot these and some jet skis at East Fork Lake!

6. EDGE OF APPALACHIA NATURE PRESERVE

Say hello to the little lovelies with whom we share this planet. There is plenty of biodiversity to ooh and aww at the preserve.

7. GREENBO LAKE

Got scuba gear? The water may not be as clear as in Bali but the opacity adds adventure.

8. MELDAHL HYDRO POWER AND FISHING STATION

Catch fish the size of people from the dam waters.

9. SHELTOWEE TRACE TRAIL
